As we are all aware, we’re in the midst of an escalating global crisis, with the coronavirus infection clusters worsening all around the world. Right now, we don’t think any one of us really knows what is going to happen next, and as professional speakers, we appreciate that now is the time we need to focus on our business during a very challenging time for our profession.
We want to ask everyone to stay strong and connected during this time, and if you can help your fellow speakers out in any way, we encourage you to step forward. Let’s keep the community spirit of support alive and let’s come through this together, stronger. #AllForOneOneForAll
As leaders of APSS, we are committed to striking the right balance between being responsible and being optimistic, which is why we are writing today to let you know that we have decided to postpone our Asia Professional Speakers Convention 2020 (APSC20) from May to August 28-29, 2020.
This has obviously not been an easy decision. However, hosting an international event with speakers flying in from all over the world, we know we must play our role responsibly and do our part in containing the virus. Equally, we are aware of the financial impact many speakers will be facing at this time, and we believe this also a critical element to factor in.
With that said, it’s an opportunity for our profession, too. As professional speakers, we are in a unique position to influence positive change in the world, and therefore we need to be optimistic and inspire our clients, as well as each other. We believe that postponing APSC20 by only a few months, hits a good balance.
Of course, moving forward to August, we will keep monitoring the situation and make decisions appropriate to the real-time situation. We think we can all appreciate that the story of the impact of the coronavirus is still being told.
So yes, this was not an easy decision to make. Both of us advocated strongly both ways, however with the global escalation this last week, we came to an agreement this is the right course of action. With that said, we know whatever decision we make, we will disappoint some, and others will agree wholeheartedly. We also understand this decision will impact your plans and we seek your understanding.
For those of you who will not be able to attend APSC20 on August 28-29, we will provide a full refund of the price you paid for your ticket, or we will give you the opportunity to roll your ticket over to APSC21.
For those planning to attend in August, we want to thank you and look forward to celebrating together in-person, APSS-style! But you won’t have to wait until August to get some powerful insights from our speakers at APSC20.
In addition to admission to our live Convention in August, your ticket will provide an additional benefit – to attend our APSC20 virtual “Super Pre-Convention” on May 14. This is an online summit, featuring our confirmed Convention speakers – and it will be of high value so we keep on learning during this time as well as give you a glimpse of what to expect at APSC20 in August. Stay tuned for more information on the APSC20 virtual “Super Pre-Convention.”
We hope you’ll stay with us on this journey. We are all in a unique situation and it will be fluid for some time to come. However, as Speakers 5.0, it’s all about learning how to thrive in this future world, and we believe we will ride through the challenges and emerge stronger!
We really appreciate your understanding, and please, if you have any questions at all, reach out to either of us at any time.
Stay safe and healthy,
